My windshield sustained damaged from a piece of ice from another car. Called Geico to make a report.

Below my deductible so no recovery. I asked who I should use to repair it. They specifically told me not to use the Toyota dealer and instead connected me directly to Safelite. Trusted Geico.

Safelite quote was $100 more than dealer. I discovered that after the installation. Also, Geico is listed on the invoice although I paid out-of-pocket. Geico assurec me Safelite was competitive on pricing.

Safelite will not match dealer's written estimate.

BUYER BEWARE!! Geico must get kickbacks!

This same thing happened to me. I was told I had a $1000 deductible but windshield was $850.

I had to pay all out of pocket. When repair was done and I paid, the cashier laughed and said "If you would have not gone through insurance, it would have cost $385. I got mad and said "Why wouldn't you be honest and tell me that in advance?". He stated that then they would have lost out on the extra commissions.

Totally dishonest business. Having said that, they did do a good job on the replacement.

What is the worst part is now that you have told your insurance company you have had damage to the car they now consider that an incident on your policy even though they did not pay out!

What is the funny thing is as I am writing this I see a Safelite Ad on Pissed Consumer Site, Talk about Brass Balls?!

Two things..

1) If you come on to a website that's geared towards unsatisfied consumers only, you're a plant and have vested interest in said company. Coming on here to give a comment is rather obvious.

2) If you come on here to defend a companies actions, you're once again here at the behest of the metioned company the complaint is about.

Save the BS, you're transparent as...a windshield! haha

who do you think is going to install the dealers windshield? don't know of any certified autoglass installers for glue in parts at dealerships in my area... they call their locally selected autoglass company to install.

Safelite took a minor chip and turned it into a major crack! They don't tell you about this risk up-front and they don't give you a copy of the warranty until they've finished the work.

Don't hire Safelite if you have any expectation that they'll make good when they *** the job. They won't!

I complained through the BBB and through my State's AG to no avail. Buyer beware!

First of all, Safelite isn't even an American company. They are also an inethical company that not only treats their customers like a number, but also mistreats their own employees.

I am in the automotive circles that have intimate, direct experience in this field, including many insurance agents. The reputable insurance agent will tell you that Safelite Solutions (AKA Safelite) operates call centers that handles claims for many insurance flags. The small glass company near you are in this network, but Safelite solutions directs the "cream of the crop" jobs to the Safelite vans and the bulk of repairs to the small businesses. If you go to a local glass shop, you have to call the number provided by your insurance carrier; if your carrier uses Safelite Solutions for their network claims, they make misleading statements to the customer such as "The glass company you have chosen does not participate in the national warranty provided by Safelite Solutions (they are reading it from a script in front of them and are required to do so in an effort to stear the business to Safelite). And by the way, the national warranty is nothing more than a warranty for materials and workmanship, something any reputable shop does. So why would they tell someone this? Yes, you guessed correctly.

If you choose Safelite, expect several different things to transpire:

*You may need to take the entire day off work.

*If you pay cash, you will probably pay nearly or more than $100 for the windshield.

*The tech will be a no call/no show.

*You'll be patronizing a European company that has the intent of destroying every small glass business in America no matter what deception it takes.

Don't be sheeple. Do the research yourself and don't be mesmerized by the Safelite commercials or entities on here defending them.

I want to comment on the wonderful experience i had with safelite. It started with the agent at the national call center.

He was pleasant, well spoken but most importantly, patient. I am 39 years old and purchased my FIRST windshield (how many times can you possibly have do it). He explained the process, quoted a price and scheduled an appointment. I had an option for garage service the next day or road service two days later.

When I arrived at the facility I was greeted by name (he must look at his workload- good job) even though they were busy. I told the guys to take thier time and that I will be back at four o'clock after work (it is 9:30 am). I arrived at the facility and again was greeted by name. The technician explained the warranties and completed my paperwork.

It was nice to deal with the same person before and after the sale. The experience was perfect. The complaint above may have some merit and safelite should pay attention. After all, how many windshields is a person going to buy in a lifetime.

With that being said, "GET YOUR WINDSHIELD FIXED AT THIS PLACE. THE SERVICE WAS GREAT". In the event I need another windshield, I will be returning to safelite.

Kudos to the call center trainers (you are good at your jobs) and the team at the Safelite location on Frankstown road in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. I am a promoter!
