Need a third windshield (heated) for my subaru 2003 outback. Safelite said could have been minor crack but they could not find it. crack goes along the heated portion of the glass. i live in the northeast, we get alot of snow and the heated shield is helpful.

My insurance covered two windshields for the past two years, will not submit another due to possible increase in rates. they seem to be the typical business with a big name providing an inferior product. they suck.

will pass word when ever i can to people in need of replacement glass, look for alternatives even if one's insurance will cover the cost of replacement. i did not do my work to investigate them.

Location: Old Town, Maine

Unfortunately, my 5 year replacement warranty from the dealership requires the use of Safelite for repairs and replacements. I had a crack and they replaced the windshield...I had a heated windshield and they replaced it with a non-heated windshield and they insist that they replaced it with the proper windshield, stating that aftermarket windshields do not have the red-indicator light...this is not true.

The windshield does not heat, it's obvious it does not heat, and there's nothing I can do.

Safelite sucks. Stay away.

Wrong. The insurance company does not have to waive your deductible.

If you have one, you have to pay for it for a legitimate claim. The fact is that windshield replacement falls under comprehensive coverage, which means that claims do not affect your rates whatsoever.

Also, Safelite uses many different aftermarket and OE glass manufacturers, made all over the world. It just so happens that it is exactly the same glass that every other company uses- there are only so many choices available.

If it's a problem with the glass, it will be replaced free of charge. If there is any sort of impact point you will be responsible for it, as well you should be.

there are states that are called "no fault" states. check if you are because then your insurance company needs to waive your deductible if you have glass coverage. like new york, article 2610

Safelite Manufactures there OWN GLASS in enfield N.C. and there IS a problem with Subaru amperage!! You should know what your talking about before you open it John!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guest

It has nothing to do with the amperage of the wires. Stress happens along the heat lines in the glass when the frame flexes or is pushed on.

From what I've read Safelite uses windshields made out of China where they can buy for cheap.

So cheaply made glass sometimes causes problems. Although, you can still have defects from the dealer you are more likely to have such problems from auto glass companies that use subpar glass.

This is actually a problem with Subaru.

A Subaru tech told me that the amperage is to high in the electrical and heats up the glass too fast. He even admitted that Subaru is aware of the problem and remedied it on newer vehicles but they are just keeping hush on the problem cars hoping it just goes away. Once the factory window is replace, it becomes the glass companies problem.

safelite is now installing carlex to remedy this problem. Which is original equipment from subaru.

But it breaks also. it's an imperfect world.

Here's someone else trying to get something FREE once again. What a country, complain enough and you yourself rip off one of the leading glass company's again.

Always look for the deal huh? You know if you go about yourself in a professional matter you will get what you want when you want it, instead of acting like a fool!

Just wondering why no one ever complains that the original glass in the car is inferior? Didn't that one break first?

The fact is that glass will break if something hits it hard enough. It doesn't matter how old it is.

Just like a glass you drink from...it can break. If you buy a glass at the store and then break it by dropping it on the floor, do you blame the store?
