Car:2010 Mercedes E350 Sedan

I was hit mid windshield by a rock that fell from a gravel truck on the highway at 70 miles an hour. The rock left a fifteen inch crack in my windshield.

I do have an insurance policy specifically for windshield repair and replacement. To my dismay I was forced... per my policy... To use Safelite rather than OEM (Mercedes Benz)parts and labor even though the Mercedes Benz windshield and labor was less expensive than Safelite and less expensive than the $1100 dollars that the policy allowed for repairs. After a month of going round and round with my insurance company and Safelite trying to get them to use OEM parts on my car so as not to void my warranty I finally gave in and agreed to allow Safelite to replace my windshield with their own aftermarket windshield.

I made an appointment and showed up on time. The window was replaced in the back of their I-35 and Landmark Drive location. I was not allowed to see the service bay or the techs that worked on my car. When I got the car back there were 3 12" scratches in my hood. A dent in the full dashboard length Harmon Kardon speaker and worst of all they removed a trim piece that ran the entire length of car in order to remove the windshield. This was obliviously necessary but the problem is they did not have the correct tools to remove this piece of trim or they just simply failed to use the correct tools. When they tried to return the car to me I noticed that the trim had fist sized dents in it in no less than four places. It no longer sits flush on the roof of the car and it looks awful.

When I brought this to their attention they agreed that their technician had caused the damage and they were willing to replace the part. We are now going on six full weeks since this happened and still my car is not fixed. They have ordered the wrong part for the car and only discovered it was the wrong part after I had taken time off work to bring my car to them. Today they asked if I could have the car there by 4:00pm. Once again I took time off only to be told on arrival that they read the date wrong and asked if they could reschedule my appointment at which point I lost my mind!!!

I'M DONE WITH THESE INCOMPETENT *** The people working at this location are a joke! They do not communicate with each other within the office and they have demonstrated time and again that they have absolutely no regard for their customers whatsoever!I have hired an attorney and I am now suing them for all damages incurred at their facility not just the trim piece that was damaged. I now want to be reimbursed for my time and the aggravation of having to reside in a world where people like this exist. My wholehearted recommendation to you as a consumer is to NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SAFELITE AUTO GLASS REPAIR COMPANY. If... Like me you are forced per your policy to use these incompetent *** I highly, highly recommend that you use their mobile service and that you are present while they work on your vehicle.

Monetary Loss: $2500.

Location: Cedar Park, Texas

I am having a similar problem with SATELITE, they are truly terrible at what they do.

Wanted to know the status or the outcome of the lawsuit, that is the next course of action I am going to have to take.

Most insurance policies will not cover OEM parts unless you have an additional underwriter on the policy. Typically you are still able to have OEM parts installed, but you will have to pay the difference between the aftermarket and OEM parts.

FYI......many of the aftermarket parts that people swear are not as good as OEM are the exact same part, from the exact same production line. Only they get a different stamp applied and a different part number.

Strange thing is that in this case the dealer quote for OEM was slightly less $$$ than after market part but, per their company policy and/or agreement with Farmers Insurance only after market may be used. ABSOLUTELY ***! Needless to say I no longer do my business with either company.

Dear anonymous,

Please stop replying to complaints when you have no idea what you are talking about.

Thank you,

Your insurance company gave you the run around on the glass, they would rather pay 200 for after market than 700 for oem.Thats what pissed you off and safelite might have caused some damage,But sounds like after dealing with your insurance company, nothing would have made you happy.

You have no idea what you're talking about. You have no idea what my entire experience with Safelite was like.

Maybe it was just the one location. Maybe the company as a whole is great but my experience was beyond bad. The management is a joke and should all be fired. I am still getting calls from technicians that want to come and replace windshields on cars that I don't even own.

That's because they're calling the wrong phone number. Now I just tell them sure... Come on... I'm waiting for you.

What else can I do?

They're absolute *** at that location. I'm pretty sure none if them made it past 9th grade.
